About Me and My Artwork
I have been scrimshawing and carving ivory and antler since 1979. My work is mostly done on Alaskan fossil walrus and mammoth ivory. The rarity, age and unbelievable rich colors of this ancient ivory provide the starting point for my artwork.
My work can be two or three dimensional. I carve and scrimshaw custom art knives and do gun art. My sculptures and netsukes are one of a kind. My intent is to create art that is exceptional, and to carry on the ancient tradition of using ivory as a prime medium of creative, not reproduced art.
My subjects are many, from the exotic jungles of Asia and the Pacific and the worlds of myth and fantasy filled with swan maidens, rangers and elf girls, to the hunters of the East and Old West, or the warriors of American history.
My work has reached the West coast, Canada, Europe and even the White House.
